Testimonials - Past Success Stories

"After years of being held within the grasp of addiction to prescription pain killers and alcohol, I knew that I needed to seek out a professional rehabilitation facility. Kramer Center, located in Newport Beach, California, proved to be the place the provided me with the help I need to get on with my life. The Kramer Center’s treatment plan for my disease proved to be an effective guide that provided me with the tools to fight my addiction. This was accomplished through education and group therapy that focused on the 12 steps of recovery. This experience gave me back my confidence and my self esteem. I will never forget how effective and genuine all of the counselors were towards my problems. Also, my fellow clients became my new support group and became great friends of whom I plan on keeping forever." - Tom 07'

"When I decided to come to the Kramer Center I was at the end of my rope. I would have rather died than lived another day in the downward spiral my life had become. My life had been reduced to stealing, robbing, selling drugs, and manipulating to get another bottle of liquor. I had only been out of prison for six months for a drug related violent offense and I felt like if I didn’t get help I would be dead or in prison again. I have been to five different treatment centers in the past but all of them were either mandated by the court or at the request of another. I remember sitting in a cell less than a year ago thinking there couldn’t be anything worse than this in life. I was released from prison June 11th 2007 at 9:30am. By 10am I was drunk. I spent over 2 years planning how I wasn’t going to relapse, finally I had a fresh start. The minute I was released I completely forgot the previous 2 years and picked up right where I left off. I started off with beer and kept a job for the first few weeks, by mid-July I was already drinking a fifth of liquor a day. I couldn’t even go to work without having a few shots just to stop the shaking. I tried to start college after losing every job I managed to acquire after my release, this only lasted for a few weeks because of my alcohol dependency. I was showing up to class drunk, and one day my professor pulled me to the side and asked me how much I had drank the night before, I told him just a few beers, I was holding a water bottle full of vodka in my hand as I told him this. I began selling more and more drugs to support my habits, I acquired a pistol for protection. By the middle of January 2008 I was sitting in my dorm room on the floor in the corner with a fifth of cognac and the pistol in my hands trying to decide which way to ease the pain of my self inflicted hell. By the grace of god I called my little sister crying out for help. I told her I needed treatment and not just a short term program. I told her I wanted to leave the state of Texas and never look back. She called my grandma and after we all talked we decided it was time to get me into a intensive care treatment program. I have had generalized anxiety disorder since I was 11 years old and this I think is a major role in why I drink. My grandmother did some research on the computer and found the Kramer Center. I expected it to be like all other treatment centers, where clients were just that ‘clients’. Since coming here I have felt more like a part of a family. All the staff is very knowledgeable and seem to care very much whether the clients here succeed in the program as well as life. I was given an initial treatment plan and updated regularly on my progress. I have had treatment from every angle, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. The groups here are educational and rewarding, it isn’t and environment where we are being told what to do at all, we are only suggested. Having followed these suggestions and going to the meetings and taking my medication regularly I have see a change in myself like I have never seen or felt before. I feel normal and that’s all I have ever wanted. I have a job that I start in a few days and it isn’t digging ditches or painting houses it is an actual office job. Two months ago I would have called you crazy if you told me where I’d be today. I am so grateful to the Kramer Center and all of the centers staff for making this possible. My life is far from perfect but I am not about a drink or a pill, or a needle to get through the day. I am ok and I am learning new behaviors all the time. Today I get to feel emotion, it hurts sometimes but at least I can feel it. Today my little girl doesn’t have to ask me why I sleep so much or walk funny. I owed all of this to god, myself, my family, my sponsor, and to the Kramer Center. " - James 08'

"I learned a lot of useful tools at the Kramer Center in Newport Beach. Over all I had a good time, the staff was friendly and made my time fun. I had a personal trainer at the gym, who I saw twice a week. I also met with a nutritionist twice a week, both of them helped with my body image and overall health. I feel the tools that learned will be with me for the rest of my life." - Kristen 07’

Dear Kramer Center.

I am thrilled and honored to do anything I can to promote the Kramer Center. The program is awesome, and every single staff member I’ve met is very passionate about helping with addiction recovery. It is truly the most remarkable program I’ve ever seen (and I’m so thankful we found it for our daughter).

We are THRILLED with our daughter’s progress! It is so great to see her healthy and happy and exuberant about life and her recovery. She is just bubbling over with enthusiasim and that is so wonderful to see. I can tell you made great progress with her because she seems very self-assured, made eye contact and spoke directly about uncomfortable subjects. WOW! Her confidence and “guts” were inspiring to me. After our meeting, we took her to lunch and she talked and talked about the Kramer Center and how much it has helped her.

Thanks again for everything you have done and are doing,

- Patti 07’

Dear Kramer Center.

Our son, has at this point been at the Kramer Center for almost 60 days. During this time we have seen a positive change in our son. I feel that Dr. Weichman is a tremendous asset to the addictive behavior management intervention program at the Kramer Center. He was able to get our son to open up and express his feelings. That was a major accomplishment. Dr. Weichman always responded to any written correspondence we had with him and answered all our questions. Also, he responded to all the phone calls made to him. We were never left waiting and wondering what was going on. That was a great relief to us as parents.

Todd Kramer and Kevein Keim were amazing on how they handled the intervention. It took one hour from the time they hit the house and our son agreed to go with them. He was angry but he went willingly which I never thought would happen. They both did a fantastic job with the intervention.

I also would like to acknowledge Kevin Keim for being at our son’s side during the transition period entering the Kramer Center. I feel this was instrumental in our son moving ahead to accept that he needed to make changes. Kevin Keim was able to speak to our son on a level that he was able to understand.

"When I first came to the center I figured that I would fool everyone in the program just to get through it and go home to the same lifestyle. It’s my last day and my outlook is totally different. I know now that my plan was so foolish. I am so grateful for everything this program has given me. I learned to accept the fact that this problem of alcoholism is a disease and I have been suffering from it over the past 5 years of my life. The Kramer Center has given me many tools to work with when I go home to Ohio and for the rest of my life. I love it! It feels so good to be sober. I am excited to be myself again. I cant wait to go home and start my new life."

Thank God for Sobriety!
